Peoples,
It’s supersteamy in NYC today, so I thought I’d share a few tips on keeping cool (“cool” in terms of temperature, not “cool” in terms of “omg, i love your phat new jeans, where did you get them?!!”)
1. I know I talk about this a lot, but I’m a big fan of lemonade. Sweet, tart, icey goodness! You can even make it yourself with one or two lemons, three tablespoons of sugar, lots of ice and a few mint leaves, to add color and sass! Toss those in a glass and STIR! Voila! You’ve just boarded the SS Refreshment! Hollah!
2. As a few of you know, my life took a turn for the better when a Coldstone Creamery moved in down the block. How had I survived 2.5 decades without this place?! Sometimes, on really hot days (like today!) I envision myself as the ice cream, being smeared out on those icey marble slabs! Throw some fixin’s on me (skor bar, crushed oreos, hell, why not some sprinkles for color!) and I’m in HEAVEN! Really, peoples, just go into that place and order ANYTHING. You’ll cool off in a hot second!
3. Normally, I only have coffee in the form of coffee ice cream, but because I already covered our icey friend above, I’m going to suggest a simple iced coffee at Starbucks. you can add chocolate syrup or anything you like to it, but sometimes it’s nice to take a break from sweet things (esp if you’re having a muffin with it! lol!) and just drink some straight coffee. We all have to have moments of healthiness, right? Hello? Anyone? Ha! I know! Add some friggin sugar! This tastes like crap! lol! It can also help to carry Hershey’s syrup in your purse, just a small one, but keep it in a ziplock! Learned that lesson the hard way! lol!
4. A few years ago, when I was a counselor at summer camp, one of the asian campers gave me a beautiful fan from her home country which was either China or North Korea, or maybe India? At any rate, you wouldn’t think a little fan could make a big difference, but you’d be wrong. Little noir, as I call it, has helped me so many times, I can’t tell you! Go to Chinatown, everyone, and get yourself one! Then write and tell me how much it’s helping you beat the heat! Ole! It’s like Epcot Center on the blog today! lol!
That’s all the tips for now…more to come soon! Like recipes for popsicles! Awesomes!!

Ha! Meesh, I love that video! “you got the talking down, just not the listening” is genius! She’s a new hero of mine. So many important lessons to learn from that song!
And remember I told you tutus were becoming trendy again? i was totally right! Haven’t seen one of those since I was kicked out of ballet class at age 5 for “not being graceful enough!” lol. that teacher was so evil! so i had a little extra baby fat on me…who made mrs. Najarian king of anything?! i still had a right to dance, right? But that’s ok, because that led me to another afterschool activity: baking cookies with my grandma and learning all about cooking, which i love more than anything! Ok, maybe not as much as i love Brubru, but still! Fill my fridge, hand me a frying pan and watch me shake it down! Betsy in da house, yo! Fryin’ up some magic! LOL!
